As fans, we often hold celebrities to higher standards than most people but it’s important to remember that they’re flawed humans too. Many of them date one another and break up. For many of them, it’s because they’re moving in different directions and can’t make time for each other. But some of these A-list celebs hate their exes and air their dirty laundry in public.

Everybody loves a juicy scandal so it’s very entertaining when this happens. Today we’ll look at some of the most dramatic examples from Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas’s break-up to Amber Heard and Johnny Depp’s trial. Check them out right here.

Russell Brand and Katy Perry

Nobody wants to be Brand’s ex now after the dark and disturbing allegations that emerged in 2023. However, Perry found herself in that situation. Brand texted her that he wanted a divorce in 2013 and that ended their relationship. But the pop star had found her former spouse unsettling for a while.

Film Magic

She reportedly nicknamed him Rasputin after the notorious Russian monk (via News.au). Meanwhile, she aired their dirty laundry in a Vogue interview as she accused him of being controlling and emotionally abusive. Perry also said that she had some dark secrets for a ‘rainy day.’

Closer singer Halsey dated G Eazy for about a year before they broke up in 2018. Later, it emerged that he cheated on her multiple times and emotionally traumatized her. The internet is a cruel place and many people mocked Halsey. But she responded emphatically by airing their dirty laundry (via Distractify).

Halsey wrote: “I see y’all in the comments. And I know you think you’re funny. Cause you’re at home on your iPhone and I’m not a real human being to you. I hope to God you never have to experience an abusive relationship. And if you do, I hope the world is kinder to you than you are to me.”

Swift appears several times on this list because she’s had many high-profile relationships. She dated Joe Jonas in 2008 but the relationship quickly fell apart. However, Swift didn’t have many positive things to say about her ex. She infamously shredded him in a notorious interview (via Us Magazine).

“When I find that person that is right for me, he’ll be wonderful,” Swift said. “And when I look at that person, I’m not even gonna be able to remember the boy who broke up with me over the phone in 25 seconds when I was 18. I looked at the call log, it was 27 seconds. That’s got to be a record.”

Nobody will ever accuse Minaj of being a shrinking violent. She proved this when she put him on full blast on a Twitter rant. Minaj tweeted: “Two years later this poor excuse of a man is suing me & claiming to have been physically & emotionally abused. Lol. He’s so miserable…This man can’t move on. It’s really sad. I have the emails to prove it.”

Minaj also said that Safaree wanted to diminish her happiness and that he had an ulterior motive. She believed that he was trying to create trouble for a reality TV program. The hip-hop icon said that it would be better if he made an effort to stay in their son’s life instead of suing her (via NME).

Sam Smith and Jonathan Zeizel

Smith is one of the most polarizing singers out there today. The nonbinary star dated model Jonathan Zeizel before it came to an acrimonious end. However, it seems like Smith channeled this negative energy into something positive. The popstar aired their dirty laundry at the Grammys.

After winning Record of the Year, Smith gave an enlightening speech. “Just a quick one,” Smith said. “I want to thank the man who this record is about, who I fell in love with last year. Thank you so much for breaking my heart because you got me four Grammys.” Ouch (via The Herald).

Maybe we’re exaggerating by including Zykla among these A-Listers. He had some decent roles in The Amazing Spiderman and The Leftovers. But he’s just another actor in the haystack that is Hollywood. Despite this, he had the cheek to air his dirty laundry in public.

He suggested that his ex, Hale, used him to climb the social ranks. Zykla said: “There’s a difference between celebrities and movie stars. Celebrities fade away, while movie stars stick around forever.” Hale is a seven-time Teen Choice award winner and is more famous (via Narcity).

Khloe Kardashian reportedly said that she gave Kim and Humphries’ relationship six months. In the end, she filed for divorce after 72 days. Many haters said that it was a media stunt and the pair never cared about each other. But Humphries denied this and said he endured severe emotional damage.

He told the Player’s Tribune: “Look, I should have known what I was getting into. I was definitely naive about how much my life was going to change. But the one thing that really bothers me is whenever people say that my marriage was fake.” Humphries suggested Kardashian knew what she was doing.

Mayer was one of Swift’s first celebrity boyfriends but their relationship didn’t end well. In 2023, Swift even asked her fans to stop cyberbullying him.
