Nothing beats going on vacation and escaping from the reality of the mundane everyday grind. However, some people can’t make the most out of their travel experience and are determined to find something to complain about. Once they do, they leave horrible and even delusional reviews about their so-called problems.

These can often have much to do with a multicultural encounter that they weren’t ready for. There are also people with simply unrealistic expectations for tour operators. Either way, they are all entertaining in a big way. We took a look at some of the craziest reviews from travelers who were disconnected from reality. Have a laugh at their foolishness right here.

One of the strangest Tripadvisor reviews saw a person advising the world not to go to London’s National Gallery. It’s one of the biggest art collections in the world with some iconic paintings. However, they inexplicably told people not to enter the premises.

“Although the pictures are very famous, if you go to London don’t go to the National Gallery,” they wrote in their confusing one-star review. Usually, if visitors have a bad experience they’ll explain what happened. Unfortunately, the reality of this mystery will never emerge.

Poland’s concentration and death camps witnessed some of humanity’s worst atrocities. Many tourists travel to these locations because they want to understand the reality of what unfolded. Meanwhile, some people don’t behave well when they visit these poignant monuments.

One visitor had an appalling reaction to Dachau Camp because it underwhelmed them. They wrote: “If this is your first visit to concentration camps, then perhaps it’s worth the time. However, if you’ve been to Auschwitz then this camp is nothing special (via Tripadvisor).”

Christ the Redeemer is one of Rio De Janeiro’s most famous monuments. This symbol of Brazil also provides incredible panoramic views of Rio and receives millions of visitors every year. But not everybody appreciates this huge statue and the dramatic scenery.

“The world’s most overrated… hahaha… wonder of the world,” one visitor wrote on Tripadvisor (via News.com). “Just a concrete pillar. I spent a total of 5 minutes here.” We wonder if that was enough time to even look down because they wasted the opportunity of a lifetime.

The U.K. doesn’t have many famous volcanoes but Edinburgh is home to Arthur’s Seat. Now extinct, this ancient natural landmark plays a significant role in mythology. Meanwhile, tourists enjoy the hike to the top and the views of the city (via Daily Record).

But one diva didn’t enjoy their experience and couldn’t believe that Arthur’s seat lacked a place to sit down. “Not a chair in sight – had to sit on the grass, and was left with an unsightly wet patch so it looked like I had soiled myself,” they complained in a hilarious review.

Most people expect to enjoy the benefits of their hotel’s pool or breakfast buffet. However, they don’t want to deal with the manager trying to sell them the entire facility. One visitor to India couldn’t handle the staff’s heavy-handed approach.

“The owner kept trying to sell me the hotel and asked if I knew anybody in England who would buy it,” they wrote in a state of despair. While it’s inappropriate behavior, the tourist could have changed hotel or smiled and walked away politely (via Financial Express).

The following review is an example of what happens when a moron travels. This person has a fear of heights but still went on the London Eye. For those unfamiliar with this landmark, it’s one of the world’s biggest Ferris wheels. They left a one-star review on Tripadvisor because of their fear.

“I don’t like heights and I didn’t like this,” he wrote. “My wife and daughter loved it. I read the newspaper and pretended I was elsewhere. If you don’t like heights don’t go near them. Apparently, the views are great.” It’s ridiculous that he gave a negative review when he was the problem.

One traveler stayed in the MacDonald Manchester Hotel and hoped for a comfortable night sleeping. But the reality was that they experienced cold conditions because the heater didn’t work. He explained that he tried to deal with this problem uniquely but it didn’t work.

The review read: “Even my high volume of bodily gases was not enough to fill the room with sufficient heat. I purposely aimed to fill the room with as much methane as possible just to get one over the hotel but it must have been absorbed by the curtains.”

Guam remains a popular beach destination for U.S. tourists. The tiny territory lies in the Pacific Ocean and has one of the world’s most beautiful coastlines. Tumon Beach is one of the most special areas because of the clear water and the fine sand (via Tripadvisor).

However, one person left an average review because they thought that the beach was too sandy. “It’s a great beach, just too sandy. Very nice for swimming.” They gave the beach three stars because of the excessive sand. We have no idea what they expected out of a beach but there are certainly some delusional people out there.

Sydney’s distinctive opera house is one of the most recognizable buildings on the planet. It’s a modern symbol of Australia and a great example of modern expressionist architecture. But there is at least one critic in this world who thinks that it’s a waste of space.

“If you like brown concrete with dim lighting, you’re in for a treat. Life is too short – do something else,” they wrote in an infamous review. We’ve no idea what they expected the building to do because the reality is that most people think it’s amazing (via Daily Mail).

Most people expect a bed and a shower as a bare minimum in a hotel room. They also want the establishment to clean up before they give the room to the new occupant. However, one reviewer had a terrible experience in the Fremont Plaza Hotel in Las Vegas.

Nobody wants to discover another person’s bodily fluids on their bed but one person claimed that they saw blood. They wrote: “Sleep in your car instead – pimps on the stairwell, drugs sold in the parking lot, blood on the pillow” (via Tripadvisor).

Even some of the world’s most important historical landmarks receive harsh criticism. One Amsterdam native said that they never visited the Anne Frank House because there were too many tourists. But eventually, they decided to book tickets for this sobering experience.

“I visited it once, had to wait for two hours to get in,” they wrote. “When we were inside, we had to walk in a straight line. It was very claustrophobic.” This is a ridiculous review when the reality of Frank’s life is taken into account (via TripAdvisor).

One of the most famous features of Brisbane is the river that flows through the middle of it. Unlike many other Australian cities, Brisbane isn’t on the coast. However, this city remains one of the most important economic centers and the river provides a lot of tourism (via ABC).

Nonetheless, one visitor didn’t enjoy their experience and found the reality disappointing. They complained about the color of the water and wrote: “The Brisbane river is nothing to be proud of. It’s dark water, looks like c**ap. I have no idea why everyone makes a huge deal about it.”

Central Park is one of the most important locations in Manhattan because it provides some essential green space to break up the dour gray monotony of the big city. Every day millions of people pass through this huge space and enjoy the scenery. It offers an escape from the concrete jungle, but one reviewer didn’t enjoy his experience (via The Sun).

In his ludicrous TripAdvisor review, he wrote: “Just grass, trees, overpriced cafes. “Surrounded by buildings in a square. Filmed from a helicopter it might be interesting, but you will not be able unless you have military permission. Boring.”

The Taj Mahal is a symbol of India and receives millions of visitors on an annual basis. Most tourists find it an incredible experience and consider it to be a highlight of their visit to the nation. But some think that it’s an anticlimax and complain about the reality.

“Don’t get wrong, it is a pretty impressive building especially when you realized it is “just” a tomb but one of the seven wonders of the world?” one tourist wrote on TripAdvisor. “No way! It was a nice visit and I can tick it off my list but other than that not too bothered.”

The Beatles are one of the world’s most legendary bands. Abbey Road was one of their most famous albums with an iconic image of the group crossing a road. Every year, thousands of people travel to London because they want to recreate the image.

However, they do so at their own risk because it is a road and there are vehicles. But this didn’t stop one moron from complaining on Tripadvisor. They wrote: “I risked my life to take a stupid picture. I needed another person to risk their life to take a photo of my family.”

There are many horror stories about tourists experiencing the stark reality of hotels. They visit with high hopes but arrive to find it’s beside a construction site or that there’s a bad smell. However, one visitor had a brutal response to their hotel’s aesthetic (via ABC News).

“Looks like a building from Chernobyl,” they wrote. “And it doesn’t get much better on the inside. The last time this place was decorated, a former Hollywood actor was President of the United States.” No business wants to read that on Tripadvisor but the truth is the truth.

Foreign visitors often experience shock when they realize that four nations comprise the U.K. Scotland has a distinct culture as well as a unique accent that many outsiders struggle with. While it’s fair to find it difficult, it’s unfair to criticize the natives as visiting tourists (via iTalki).

However, one traveler didn’t consider this and condemned the people. They attended a show in Glasgow and complained about the actors’ mode of speaking. “The actors have a Scottish accent and it’s very hard to understand,” they wrote as they left a harsh one-star review.

London is home to many iconic landmarks including St. Paul’s Cathedral and Westminster Palace. But few sites embody the city like Big Ben. This giant clock is one of the most famous places in the city and people love to take photos of it when they’re on vacation.

Needless to say, not everybody thinks it’s that great. One reviewer criticized Big Ben because they thought it was pointless in modern life (via Tripadvisor). They wrote: “I don’t understand all the hype about this clock. It is literally just a clock. It’s going to be a digital one in 30 years anyway.”

The Grand Canyon is one of the most famous natural sites in America because of its dramatic scenery. Many people dream of making it there but one person doesn’t appreciate the reality of it. He left a harsh review about his disappointment and didn’t pull any punches (via Chicago Tribune).

“I’ve been to a number of so-called landmarks in my time – but what the hell was this?” the critic wrote. “Just an overblown sandy ditch. Really don’t get the fascination. Took two hours to get there – should’ve stayed in my hotel and watched a DVD instead.”

It’s amazing how people can take issue with the dumbest things. One idiotic traveler complained: “It took us nine hours to fly home from Jamaica to England. It took the Americans only three hours to get home. This seems unfair.” There are so many things wrong with this review.

The main issue is that they’ve never looked at a world map because this should make it clear why their journey took longer. Also, the sense of entitlement is special because the individual resents Americans. It’s hilarious but also frightening how disconnected from reality they are (via Reddit).

Most people expect to see marine life in the ocean when they go on vacation. It’s a sign that the water is clean and that they’re in a beautiful tropical destination. But some people don’t think about these things before they book time away with their family.

A reviewer wrote: “Nobody told us there would be fish in the sea. The children were startled.” To describe these disillusioned reviewers as disconnected from reality is probably the understatement of the century. Let’s hope the fish didn’t mind sharing the water with this dumb family (via Digital Spy).

Imagine going to another country and complaining that there were too many foreigners there. That’s exactly what one traveler did after they ventured to Spain. It shouldn’t shock a visitor that most of the residents and workers would hail from their native country.

“When we went to Spain, there were too many Spanish people there,” the critic said. “The receptionist spoke Spanish, the food was Spanish. Nobody told us there would be so many foreigners.” Yes, even though it’s hard to believe, some people are this disconnected from reality (via Indy100).

One tourist had a unique complaint when she visited Russia. She claimed that the women were too beautiful and this affected her mental health. Usually, people don’t complain that the locals are attractive because they think that this is a good thing.

“The ladies living in Russia were so beautiful they totally crushed my self-esteem,” she wrote in a negative review (via Wish Trip). It’s fair to say that most men would be happy to swap places with her and meet all of the stunning Russian ladies.

Another individual had an incredibly harsh reaction when they saw obese people on the beach. They decided to leave a review and complain about this reality. It’s awful that they commented on their fellow beachgoers’ bodies in such a cruel way (via The Independent).

“The beach had too many fat people. It was gross,” they wrote. We can only assume that they went to Fort Lauderdale or somewhere of that ilk. It’s wild that they felt that they needed to tell the world about their experience. But there are some truly mean people out there.

It’s often the case that tap water doesn’t taste good in resorts or hotels. That’s why most of them provide a couple of free bottles of water. They’ll also advise temporary residents to buy bottles from a convenience store. But another tourist decided to quench their thirst with long drinks instead (via Hill Top Travel).

However, this became a complaint because their vacation devolved into a hazy blur. They wrote: “The water tasted funny so I had to drink cocktails all week. Now I can’t remember half my holiday.” Surely, there was another solution other than drinking solely alcohol all week such as drinking orange juice or coconut water?

Sometimes maids and cleaners go beyond the call of duty. They could easily lay a towel on a bed or hang them in the bathroom. But they may take it a step further and shape them into swans or even a rose. Normally people appreciate this small touch but one visitor had a visceral reaction.

“The maid who cleaned our room made our towel into a swan shape,” she wrote in a negative review. “I don’t like swans.” The reality is that the cleaner had no idea that some crazy person had a weird and very specific dislike of swans. It’s not her fault but the hater still went online to complain about it (via The Olive Press).

Some people have no qualms about going to a nudist beach and taking off all of their clothes. The reality is that it takes a lot of confidence and they will receive some judgment too. One British traveler complained that some women sunbathed topless on the Algarve (via Somerset Live).

“Topless sunbathing on the beach should be banned,” she wrote. “The holiday was ruined as my husband spent all day looking at other women.” This says a lot about the state of their marriage because the husband had a wandering eye. It was also inappropriate for him to stare at women in this manner.

Imagine going to a tropical country and not realizing that there are many menacing and irritating bugs. It’s a give that creepy-crawlies haunt the most beautiful places on the planet. Mosquito bites are part and parcel of the experience but one holiday-maker didn’t accept this reality.

She left a negative review about her experience after an insect left its mark on her. “I was bitten by a mosquito,” she wrote (via Diply). “The brochure didn’t mention mosquitos.” It’s truly incredible what people will find to complain about. Let’s hope that she got malaria as a result of the bite.

An English pensioner made headlines in 2018 when she complained about the Spanish vacationers in the resort she went to. Freda Jackson said that the facilities didn’t cater to foreigners and she thought that the Spanish shouldn’t be there (via The Scotsman).

“One evening a Spanish guy nearly knocked me flying and he just walked off without even apologizing,” she moaned. “The entertainment in the hotel was all focused and catered for the Spanish – why can’t the Spanish go somewhere else for their holidays?”

“The beach was too sandy. We had to clean everything when we returned to our room,” one traveler wrote on Thomas Cook’s website. We’re not kidding either, this was a genuine complaint after their vacation. It’s no wonder that Thomas Cook went out of business because they attracted this type of stupidity.

Imagine going to a sandy beach and moaning that there’s too much sand. It’s like going on a skiing holiday and saying that there was excessive snow. The reality is that some people don’t know what the world is like and their governments shouldn’t allow them to travel (via Wakefield Express).

It’s safe to say that most people reading this article don’t know that egg slicers exist. Neither did we until we came across this ridiculous review. Somebody went on vacation and rented a holiday bungalow with a fully-equipped kitchen. But then they experienced a horror that tainted their entire experience.

They wrote: “Although the brochure said that there was a fully equipped kitchen, there wasn’t an egg slicer in any of the drawers.” Imagine being the person who has to deal with these idiotic complaints. The reality is that’s somebody’s job and we feel a lot of pity for them (via Ugly Hedgehog).

Sometimes travelers fail to do much research before they set off on their journey. That’s acceptable for open-minded people who will take everything as it comes without complaint. But if they expect soft pillows and their mother’s cooking every night, they’ll have a major problem.

One tourist went to India and couldn’t believe that there was only spicy food. “On my holiday to Goa, I was disgusted to find that every restaurant served curry. I don’t like spicy food,” they wrote. It beggars belief that they even successfully made it through the airport (via Tripadvisor).

One British family went to a waterpark and expected to receive everything that they required. But the reality was that they should bring their towels and swimwear. This is completely normal but somehow they didn’t understand this and left a negative review about their experience.

“We booked an excursion to a waterpark but no one told us we had to bring our own swimsuits and towels. We assumed it would be included in the price.” The bigger question is who would want to wear the same swimming shorts as dozens of other people? (via Cruise Passenger).

Another person moaned that the bus ride to their resort ruined the entire vacation. They wanted to read the travel guide on the journey but couldn’t because of the uneven road surface. Somehow, they didn’t have time to check it out for the remainder of their vacation (via News.com).

“The roads were bumpy and uneven so we couldn’t read the local guidebook during the bus ride to the resort,” they said. “Because of this, we were unaware of many things that would have made our holiday more fun.” Sometimes it’s acceptable to give a person a good shaking and this is one of them.

Street traders struggle to make a living like the rest of us. They typically sell knock-off products like handbags, purses, and sunglasses for a cheap price. These sellers often watch the police because they’re operating without a license and dealing in counterfeit goods (via Europe For Visitors).

This didn’t stop somebody from complaining that they mistakenly bought fake sunglasses for a cheap price. They complained to their travel agent about the scenario. “We bought Ray-Ban sunglasses for five dollars from a street trader, only to find out that they were fake,” they wrote in the review. Well, yes, they were fake.

Here’s one of the strangest reviews in the history of the world. “The brochure said no hairdressers at the resort,” the traveler wrote. “We’re both trainee hairdressers and think they knew and made us wait longer for service” (via Carry On).

It’s highly unlikely that the travel agency did a secret background check and uncovered the truth about these people. Furthermore, they misinterpreted the brochure because it meant that there simply were no hairdressers available to style your hair at the resort. Sometimes logic defies people and this is a clear example.

It stands to reason that a suite with multiple bedrooms would be bigger than one with just a single bedroom. However, one traveler didn’t receive this memo and felt incredibly jealous about their friend’s accommodation. They stayed in the same resort but with different-sized rooms.

“I compared the size of our one-bedroom suite to our friend’s three-bedroom suite,” they wrote. “Ours was significantly smaller (via Escape.com).” We don’t know how they didn’t comprehend that this was completely reasonable. But there is no explaining reality to some people.

It’s safe to assume that most people working in a country are natives of that specific place. But try telling that to British tourists who can’t understand why there are so many Spanish people in Spain. Nor can they accept that they don’t all speak English to a native level (via Tripadvisor).

One tourist wrote the following critical review: “We went on holiday to Spain and had a problem with the taxi drivers because they were all Spanish.” This would be hilarious if it wasn’t real but this is a real person who thought this. It’s ridiculous but also teetering on the level of dangerously stupid.

Traveling to another country is a great opportunity to try new things and experience a different culture. However, some people want to transplant their way of life into a place with sunshine. Check out this British tourist’s opinion of their hotel in Turkey (via Tripadvisor).

“I know it’s a Muslim country, and that Muslims don’t like bacon or sausages, but we’re English, and we expect them at breakfast,” they moaned. This is amazingly disrespectful but they’re oblivious to this reality. Consider all of the hotel staff who deal with these types of people every year.

The following review takes stupidity to a level that can be described as borderline dangerous. We can only assume that this person now requires daily supervision because this is exceptional. It’s standard for a hotel receptionist to tell a guest how to contact them from their room (via Mail Online).

Usually, they press a number on the in-room phone and it immediately connects. This individual didn’t understand this and wrote this criticism: “I couldn’t call reception from my cellphone. They told me I could just press nine but it didn’t work.”

Many hot countries typically observe a siesta in the afternoon. They’ll take a nap and relax for half an hour because it’s the hottest point of the day. Maybe they wake up earlier too because it enables them to make the most of their waking hours (via Northern Echo).

However, one British tourist didn’t appreciate this and thought that Spain should adapt its culture to her shopping requirements. “It’s lazy of the local shopkeepers to close for a siesta in the afternoon,” she wrote. “I often need to buy things during siesta time – this should be banned.”

Adventure trips can be very fun because they get people out of their comfort zone. Some tourists enjoy kayaking or canoeing because they’re not too extreme. Everybody should know that these slender boats don’t have any facilities except a bench to sit on (via Ranker).

But one family didn’t understand what they were getting themselves into. They appeared to have bougie expectations and their experience disappointed them. “We went on a canoe trip,” they wrote. “But nobody told us there was no bathroom on board. We felt very disappointed.”

A white, sandy beach is one of the most beautiful sights in the world. People dream of laying down their towels on the perfect surface. However, when one tourist arrived at a beach resort the sand wasn’t to her liking. She complained that it was white and not yellow as the brochure displayed.

“We found the sand was not like the sand in the brochure,” she reviewed (via Huff Post). “Your brochure shows the sand as yellow, but it was white.” She must be the first person in the history of humanity to make this complaint. The white sand is generally more aesthetically pleasing than yellow and feels better too.

Safaris are a once-in-a-lifetime experience. But there is an element of luck involved because they’re very expensive. Rangers and tour companies warn that there are no guarantees that tourists will see all of the Don’t Go!
